2010 UltraClassic
I ordered a stage one a/c, PCV, 4.5" Pro Touring mufflers and the 2-1-2 head pipe from Fuel Moto, and everything arrived except for the head pipe which was at the time, back ordered.

I couldn't wait for the head pipe to arrive so (after checking by phone with Fuel Moto) I installed the stage 1 a/c, the Pro Touring mufflers and the PCV... leaving the OEM (with cat) header on.

I was extremely pleased with the set up just like that! More power. smoother etc, etc... and the sound was what I was looking for!

2 weeks later when the 2-1-2 head pipe arrived and I installed it, I was even more stoked to hear the way the bike sounded "unplugged"!! Deeper, louder and exactly what I was looking for! I also quickly noticed as the bike warmed up... that the heat from the cat was gone... very nice .

In a nutshell, the bike ran great with everything but the head pipe installed... ran even better after installing it. I've got just a touch over 20,000 miles on my bike. About 12,000 of those miles with the Fuel Moto system... not a thing bad to say!

Thanks Jamie and Fuel Moto crew!

Did you push the map to your ECM??? Did you check for an exhaust leak? I don't have a PV, but the only issues I have ever had with FM's maps are a slight ping on hard acceleration and ended up pulling a little timing out where it occurs. I always just chill now and call and talk to Jamie, Keith, or Brian. I just added my TW555 and am tweaking the map just a little, as I think the humidity and heat here in Va and my riding style are culprit. Wish I had a PV (with auto tune)... but I have read some issues with V&H and their O2 locations causing tuning problems, so I may be calling Jamie and crew myself.

That was my first thought too.

Default Thanks

Thank you for the replies. I was not trashing Jamie or Fuel Moto at all, just sharing to get any thoughts from the collective. I will certainly call Jamie today, was too late to do that last night.

I am pretty certain the install went well. Pipes are tight, no leaks, no decel pops.... Actually not even hearing that nice decel scavenging rumble? The PV preloaded custom install Seemed to go in fine. Not quite sure how to verify. Thinking I do need to read up on this unit. Was hoping to also use it as a tach but could not get that working.

Like I said I feel the extra power but I feel it's not being delivered smoothly. Acceleration on stock setup was VERY smooth and even. Now it feels more rough maybe a bit more shake? Mostly from starts and rolling acceleration. Cannot put my finger on it exactly. You just know when something does not feel quite right.

The best idea that I have, and have seen here is: "call Jamie".

Default Call to FM

Spoke with Jamie this morning. Great service as always. Suggested that I reset air and fuel trim and put a few hundred miles on to let it self calibrate. I am keeping my fingers crossed this is the ticket! Makes sense based on the my perceived roughness.

Thanks Jamie!

Perhaps I was a bit harsh in my earlier statement. Glad your getting it sorted out.

Let us know after you ride the bike a while. It is very rare to hear criticism of Fuel Moto products, which is what caught my eye with this thread.

I have the jackpots and comeplete power package from FM, 2-1-2, et al. Good seat of the pants improvement but there were a few rough spots in the mapping. Half a dozen calls to FM for different maps and adjusting the map with them on the line still couldn't get it right. I finally had it dynoed. That addded a few more ponies but best of all it smoothed out the power curve very nice. Runs great, I am happy. Getting it tuned properly was the bottom line. Plug and play only gets it close.

Thanks Jamie!

The engine did smooth out some once I reset the the air and fuel mixture. Went on a long 416 mile ride and the bike just started running better and better. Amazing how strong, smooth and fun this bike is running right now!!! Sound is deep but muffled... thinking the 2-1-2- headpipe is in the near future! Looking for a bit more bark.

Thanks Jamie for the assistance with this!
