My wife has a 2001 Road King FLHR. Today when we were riding down the canyon my wife radioed me that her Spedo was jumping around, then it shut down all together. We stopped for lunch and when we started back down the canyon it worked fine all the way home. I am going to pull the speed sensor and clean it. I'll also grease the plug, is there anything else I should look at?

 

Clean the speed sensor. That usually fixes the problem. If it quits completely, the replacement is ~$65.

I think I would just replace it rather than cleaning it....not an expensive part and easy to install.
