Was out for a ride this weekend, on two occasions, I hit a dip in the pavement, and "CLUNK" it almost sounded like the front forks fully extended and "bottomed out" on full extension, this is a new noise to me, when it happened the second time the wife said from behind, What the hell was that? it was a real loud bang! This kinda worries me, anyone else experience this ? any replies would help.
Seriously now....at 30k, you're due for some fork maintenance anyway....fluid change at a minimum. Might have blown a valving o-ring and indeed bottomed out hard. Try to replicate to establish a pattern so you have something useful to tell your mech.
Another thought....put it on a frame lift and check the head bearings. Usually you'll get a crazy wobble at certain speeds when they lossen up but I had a scoot a while ago that rode fine until I hit a bump....clunk....head bearing was bad. Other than that, check all the usual suspects...brake calipers, wheel bearings, axle nuts, or other loose/interferring hard parts.
please by all means check your gas tank!
Grab that sucker and yank the crap out of
it in an upward motion. If you here that
clank tighten up the bolt that bolts it on
a friend of mine went threw this same crap
for about 6 months before an Indy showed
him what I am telling you
I had something similar on my last bike , 06 FLHT.
First time was a broken upper fairing bracket , covered by the dealer.
The second time and quite a bit louder was the 2 lowest screws for the fairing that you access by turning the forks , one was missing and the other was about ready to fall out.
Blue locktite and a new screw fixed it .
The loose screws thing was really loud and made me nervous as heck till I found it.
Just a couple things that did happen to mine.
