In the case of the SE255, each cam is clearly stamped on the outside of one lobe "CVO 255". At least one unscrupulous Ebay seller has put stock cams up for auction that have a "255" in the part number, claiming they're SE255's, so caveat emptor.
then you have the other side of the coin. i have seen in several cases, where someone is selling something (take se255 cams for instance) for virtually no discount. there is an auction going on right now, where they are offering no bids, buy it now only, for $264.95. you can buy them from zanotti's for $235.13. won't mention any names, but it sounds like 'aint tall hd'
There was a set on ebay for $180. They said about 100 miles, put in did a dyno and took out. I ask him if they were stamped, he said yes and gave me the correct part number. I bought them today, I guess I'll hope for the best. I plan on doing the cam change myself. I'll need to buy the tools. I plan on buying them, do the swap and sell the tools. Thanks to everyone for the input.

Yeah, on those I would just pass.

Yeah, you'd prolly want to pass on those too. OTOH somebody who just priced them at their friendly local HD dealer and never heard of Zanotti's might jump at that terrific deal! "Hey, Mamma, I saved $35!"

Ha! That's really rich. He was probably expecting big HP numbers. Imagine that.

You can do it. You know about Atrain68's good write-up, right? And the JP Cycles video? I did one too, but it's pretty lame by comparison.

That's really strange. I bought a set last month with the same description. They look really good though........................
