To those who have done the 95in Big Bore, have you noticed any increase in vibration due to the fact that the 95in pistons are heavier than the 88's? (I assume) A friend of mine gave me a set of SE 204 cams. I'm thinking of putting them in and doing the BB this winter but, I am concerned that all this will give me more vibration at some point in the RPM range. Any comments on the 204's in a bagger? I'm thinking the 204's over the 203's because I'm a compact person and typically ride solo. About 5'4" and 140 lbs soaking wet. Plus they are free! Thanks in advance for your responses! By the way my bike is a 2006 Streetglide with SE Pro slip-ons, SE air-cleaner and a PC III.
The '06 heads will ONLY work with an '06 intake. The intake runners have been raised in the head for better flow. The drag race guys have been doing this for years. Gives the intake charge a straighter shot into the combustion chamber. The "Bad" part about this is that '06 models are all by themselves on this. '05 is different, and '07 is WAY different. I have a stock set of '06 heads, but I am hesitant to part with them in the event I decide to get more radical sometime in the future. The HD parts catalog says that the '05 and earlier heads will work with the '06 intake by changing the flanges on the intake. After digging deeper, HD has released a service bulletin that states that the '06 intake WILL NOT work with anything but an '06 head. Thanks to Andrea at Foster's Harley for saving me some coin on that potential blunder. I lucked out as the indy shop that did my build had errantly purchased an '06 SE throttle body thinking that they could use it on an '05 and earlier head. No dice. I got that little gem for their cost. Hope this helps.....
Oh.......BTW......general rule of thumb.....anytime you increase performance, you usually increase vibration. I have noticed more idle vibration on mine since the engine build, but not a noticeable amount at cruising speed.......
Thank guys! I can live with the idle vibes but, didn't want to ruin the smooooth crusin'. Looks like I'll be cookin' along next Spring.
Just one more question though. Do you think it would be worth it to do just the cams? (cheaper in cost)
I did 95 w/ SE 203's and the only increase in vibration was as mentioned. At idle.
Ditto....lovw the performance of the BB and 203's. I've heard very good things about the 204's as well. All this after hearing them maligned more often than praised. I had a set of 211's on my Fatboy before going with SE Heads, BB and Woods gear drive cams. I prefer the chain driven SE cams and LOVE the 203's on my bagger. Lot's of different reasons why, but for sure you won't regret the BB setup and I know you'll love the FREE 204's
It will increase vibration some but the power improvement is well worth it. Hammering it up a on ramp is a blast. The part I like is going to a bike night where you have to start your bike with a crowd of people around. Everytime I do someone will say damn that thing sounds healthy, what do you have in it? The lumpy idle and high compression exhaust sound really gets attention.
The 01' heads I have were diamond cut saved me from being down also they have a oversized intake valve and are rumored to put out better tq lines not sure but the only diffrence is the 06 heads use a diffrent valve and single spring (and flow better stock because the smaller valve stem)and take a diffrent set of intake flanges I still run the 46mm intake that was stock on my 06' just bought 01 flanges and bolted it right in.

204 cams are a good choice for a big bore and it will impact vibration more than the pistons in my opinion.
What s the deal with the '01 heads. I noticed Nogood lists '06 heads. Is there a big difference?
