Default Another "I need a seat" thread

The wife and I just got back from one a one week 3300 mile trip on my 2011 CVO Street Glide. The stock seat is far superior to the standard SG seat. However, it is lacking on long rides. So, I need another seat. I've had great luck with the HD Sundowner seat but it lacks character. I've had a couple of Mustang seats on metric bikes and they worked well also but are a bit bulky for a CVO SG. I need something comfortable and sporty. Looking at the C&C Sport touring seat. I looks a little thin though for a passenger. Can I get opinions please. I would add that if it comes down to comfort versus looks, I'm leaning comfort particularly for my passenger who rides with me everywhere.

I don't know how long you've been riding but I've learned over 45 years that I was a little more willing to give up character for comfort. Perhaps you could have the more comfortable Sundowner recovered.

Having said that. I wish I had never bought the expensive Corbin Classic solo seat. That only proved to me that looks aren't everything. If I were going to take a long ride, I would put the stock seat back on it in a heartbeat.

For me, it's nothing but Corbin saddles. When I got my 2003 FLHRCI, I took it on a road trip to Key West with the stock saddle. Bad case of monkey butt with that thing.

Corbin provides a firm saddle, just like a horse saddle, that I've found comfortable. I've bought them for every bike since 2000 and never regretted it.

I have the two piece Mustang seat with drivers backrest.
The seat doesn't look back and you can pull the back pad off when the wife isn't riding..
With the new 4 point quick release kits you can pull the riders backrest off and seat in two minutes.
I just got back from 2,700 miles and it was great..

The best investment I ever made on my bike was a custom seat. With a custom, you can have style and comfort built exactly the way you want...specific to you, your riding style, and personal desires. Several companies to choose from...our local one is Rich's in Kingston, WA. They cost a little more but well worth it IMHO.

I ride with the Sundowner that has the SG stitching. I think it is one of the best looking touring seats out there. More importantly, my wife loves the comfort of the Sundowner seat.

Thanks for some good responses. Recovering the Sundowner makes a lot of sense "shortride". I'm going to give that some thought.

I agree with RoadGlideRick--stick with C&C. You can have it custom made to your specs with a relatively quick turn-around. I have their solo seat with large passenger pillon, and my wife loves it. I have been thinking about getting a sport tourer for longer trips, but she's happy with the current set up.

Corbin all the way, but two things:
A) You should live close enough to them that they can custom fit it to your body and riding position. They are hand made so no seat is the same.
B) It takes some time for the saddle to break-in. For me it's approx 1-2K miles.
