After reading a post today about a guy who dumped/tipped his bike...I was wondering...if your bike is laid down it will indicate "Tip" on the odometer/dash. Does the bike record that information anywhere permanently so it can be read later. If it did you could, in theory, determine if the bike had ever been down. However, the bad thing would be, for example, if you demonstrated how to right a bike after tipping...it could also indicate that it had tipped.
I don't think there is a code that relates to tipped specifically. with that said I think there are other codes that are associated with being tipped. And if that is the case they should be stored, reviewable and clearable just like anyother code. Good ?? I wonder what the Dealer would say if you asked the ? and said prove it ?
Why do people worry about if a used bike has ever been on it's side? I just assume they all have and go about determining if any damage remains. I'm also looking for signs of poor maintenance or other abuse.
Of all the bad things that could happen to a bike being tipped over or ridden in the rain don't even make the top 10.
Not sure about a code but had a friend drop his 2000 Ultra Classic as he was dismounting, we uprighted it real quick and it would not start for anything. Called the indy and he told us to tip the bike in the opposite direction to reset the tip sensor that cuts off the fuel. Worked like a charm, fired up just like that!
