Own the 2007 RKC and 2010 Street Glide. As earlier replies noted, changes are much more than the frame. 6 gallon tank, ABS, exhaust are a few, with frame feeling lighter, tossable. All that said, the RKC is my ride of choice because it looks and feels like an old school Harley. I am far more attached to the Road King than I am the Street Glide.

Thanks Tarheel5. After finally completing the work she turned out just the way I was hoping. And for an RG she moves down the road pretty well.

I spent about a week on a 2008 RK loaner, and on my first test ride on an '09 RK I could immediately tell that it was a huge improvement in terms of handling and stability over bumpy roads and in corners. I like to ride aggressively when the mood strikes and I couldn't do that on an '08, but I could on the '09 and bought one.

2009 is the best model year, all of the improvements and no cats. Just my 2 sense.

Test rode an 08, it shook like hell at stop lights and low speed. I bought a 10, it doesn't shake like that. Both ride good going down the highway, but around town I like the newer models.

Default No bad years!

I love my 09 RK. Once I changed out the bars and seat to my liking, it has become "the bike of my dreams". While I don't have any experience with pre 2009 Kings, I haven't heard anyone say they don't like their particular year. To me the Road King has stood the test of time and stayed true to its' roots. It is what I had hoped it would be and a little bit more!
