Default Tour-Pak Brake Light Chrome Accent

Needed a bit of pimp this weekend, so I installed the Tour-Pak Brake Light Chrome Accent trim. I like the way this looks, but it is a royal pain to install. Required measuring, measuring, and measuring again, then drilling, positioning, repositioning, drilling again, trimming, and even then not quite getting it perfectly straight.

But it looks kinda cool. Just don't look too close, because it's not perfectly straight despite all the trouble. I can't for the life of me figure out why they just didn't use double-sided 3M tape....

Because that would make entirely too much sense...

I suppose that a good portion of the cost is the superb engineering of the covers themselves, the significant work in developing the instruction sheet, and eight sets of screws, nuts, flat washers, lock washers, rubber grommets and packaging!

Yeah it takes alot of thought and ink to type "refer to service manual on how to remove screws!"

Wow. If I had read this thread before attempting this installation I might not have bothered. Exactly as Pastor John says. Looks great from across the street. Most obnoxious installation of any mod so far. Once you begin there's no turning back because you've hacked up perfectly good parts in the very first step. For those of you who've never tried it, it requires drilling through the light housing into the tour-pak with only a flimsy paper cut-out to guide you. In my experience even the paper template was not quite accurate requiring additional hacking and butchering to make it almost straight.
Like I said, it looks great if you don't look too closely.
