WOW -- I hope you got a good deal on a 2009 with more than 2 1/2 Million miles on it Just bustin your chops...I can't add any value to this thread though. Sorry.
In store bikes were given priority for the recall.
It takes about 10 minutes to get it done and the only visable signs it was done is that there are small plastic caps where the front tank mount is.
It's a very minor issue and doesn't affect the way a bike runs or handles. It is a "just in case" you have a certain type of front end collision. It limits the crush damage on the tank and limits gas spillage.
The recall is to make the tank mounts on the frame stronger. Your dealer should be able to look up and see it work has been done on your bike. You have a keeper there first year for new frame and diff. tires. Last year for no cats. It is a one year bike. Keep an eye on the front tire if it starts to show signs of cupping around 7000mi. tell your dealer you are experiencing front end vibration and slight shimmy there was a recall for the tire but only if you feel vibration usually. Some dealers will replace it no questions asked others like a reason to replace it.
I traded my ONE YEAR ONLY 08 Ultra for the 09 and got me a new front tire free because of the cupping. Need to check into a rear, as it is cupping now.
They changed the frame in 08 and then radically changed it in 09 from what I understand. Never did feel right on the 08 but love the 09 so far.
Dealer checked the VIN and the tank recall had been done.
