Default Got some problems

Needed tires so I took my wheels to powder coat and while waiting, starting adding some goodies to the Ultra. Ran into some problems/questions.

#1 - HD oil temp gauge (75265 04A) to replace the ambient temp. Bulb housing doesn't seem to fit through the slotted hole of the backplate on the new gauge. Tangs on the housing just a tad wider than the slot. Suggestions? Box says it fits my 09 FLHTCU

#2 Custom Auxillary LIghting Kit (69227 04), took the original passing lamps off and to keep the original buckets, (directions say to mark wires before cutting but don't say where) soI am supposing I cut the wires in each harness (left/right) maybe near the connector from under the fairing and splice it onto the turn signal wires from the kit, and I guess I would have to cut the single wire that runs to the passing lamp at the harness sheathing opposite from the connector and splice it back when its on the new mounting?

May be nervous over nothing, hope so, but I know some of you guys have made these mods and I like to lean on some experience to try not to screw something up
Thanks in advance

The gauge I have has the same hole in it as the air temp, and a differnt mounting bracket as well, metal half circle, not the plastic full round one I took off
Thanks for the response, hope I find some help on the lights
