I have the Stage One Air Cleaner, Download, and Vance and Hines slip ons. The bike runs great. I pulled my plugs at 20 or 25K and the looked perfect. Cheap, safe, and effective.

Did the SE high-flow, AC mufflers and then the HD download.
I know some are indifferent about it, but the download changed everything.
I'm not a big "performance" guy -- Honestly, I wasn't expecting to really notice a difference. But the difference was substantial - especially after the download.
Something to consider about the HD download. While it does change some settings in the ECM and ups the rev limiter to 6200, my understanding is that it doesn't do much, if anything, to richen your fuel/air mix. HD has to stay within EPA guidelines when they develop their ECM flashes. Among other things, richening the AFM is what's going to give you some of the cooling effect you get from doing your stage 1...one of the biggest reasons folks do it besides performance gains and sound.
As others have said, if you are considering other changes down the road (cat removal, cams, etc) you might want to consider some type of fuel management system instead of the download, as it will be more cost effective in the long run. There are lots of alternatives and lots of different price points, so do some searches here before you decide. Some folks have done the HD download and are happy with the results as you can see. I chose the fuel management route and am happy with the results as well (Power Commander V from FuelMoto).
Ultimately, its your ride and your choice, so make the decision you think is right.
