According to my 09 Electrical Diagnostic Manual, the voltage at the battery terminals at 3000 RPM should be less than 15vdc.

Agree, the part # is 1157LL, much cheaper, and easier to find than the HD 184. BTW, I had 1 original fail so far in the tourpak so put a pack of 1157LL in the bag. Probably should do a regular "preflight" of the lights. Didn't know this one had failed until a co-worker told me.

But overall they're in parallel, not in series, so if there was a ground issue it would still have to be between the actual socket in question and the first common ground location. Very doubtful it's a ground issue though since there was nothing mentioned about the light intensity being lower the other lamps. The first culprit would seem to be vibration, so I'd be curious if the lamp socket is tightly mounted to the trunk or if it can let the bulb shake a little, or if the bulb itself can shake in the socket.

Seeing that the Harley Dealer was near me i stopped the next day and got a new bulb.(yea..a regular 1157 bulb in a Harley box) at 5.87 each i went and got 3 of them one to replace the bad one and 2 spares..by this time now i've went through 8 bulbs ..7 in the tour pack both left and right sides at differant times and one in the left front marker(yellow ) light. Took it to the dealer after the 5th bulb went out. Dealer said the only thing they found was that "someone " replaced the bulb with a NON HARLEY issued bulb. Which i did after the 3 i brought went bad..Well ..they replaced the bad one's WITH ,,Harley ones.......and YEP..two days later...they went out.... Has anyone....had this problem .. this is my first bagger..so now there tell me i must be hitting bumps to hard.. But if i want they will take the bike for a couple of weeks and tear it down...
i had the right go out on mine, replaced both of them with 1157ll with a little di electric grease. on my stock 10 ulta classic, the tour pac light's don't blink with the turn signals, you mentioned (blinker still worked ) on mine just the run/brake, do you have the run/brake/ turn signal harness on yours?, might be the 11/12 have it now beings mine doesn't, if you do might check that harness out. could be something there. has hard as the tour-pac shakes when at an idle, it's a wonder the bulbs work at all.

A friend with an '11 SG is having trouble with tail lights burning out prematurely, 3-4 already in only 10 months, and I suggested the TSM might be at fault. I don't recall if it is left or right, brake or running light. He doesn't have the security system. Anyone else having trouble with tail lights on this model?

You might laugh but I had that on my Mercedes. One Bulb every 10 oder 14 days. Was twice at the dealer, they found nothing.
After 5 or 6 Bulbs i put an old one in by mistake. But this one worked, it was caused by an bent bulb socket.

With only 2100 miles I just had my left tour pak bulb go out, wife caught it on our week-end ride. I had two 1157LL spares so I went ahead and replaced both, we'll see how long they last.... Seems like there may be some low quality bulbs produced for the Moco.

OP let use know what you find.
