I am probably jinxing myself by saying this, but I have never had a bulb burn out in my tour pack, my last Ultra had 18k miles when i got the new one and this one has almost 22k. I even did 20 or so miles on a washboard dirt road that rattled the hell out of the bike. I don't think it is the quality of bulb you are using. I could be wrong.
Your bike SHOULD still be under warranty, make the dealer make it right. I had incandescence in mine until JUST this last winter - 5K miles never had to change a bulb.
You are going thru them to fast and often - something needs to be checked out before it leads to something more serious.
Okay, just informed today by a fellow rider, "hey, your left tour pak bulb is out" so here I am. Went by dealer and picked up a new bulb for $5.00. I told parts dept guy, it's just a 1157 dual filament but went ahead while I was there and bought the bulb. My bike is a 2011 Ultra Limited. I now will probably try to pick up HD bulb and go with them rather than the genuine made in china harley bulb, but hey, everything seems to come from china now.
Three Tour Pack and one front blinker in 12,000 miles. My bike came with all 198's in it.
I'm still waiting to find a person that can tell me what the difference between an 1157 and a 198 is (besides 959 )
One tour pack running light bulb on my 11 Limited went out at about 5000 miles (6 months). Replaced both with long life I think it was a 2357 which has a slightly higher wattage brake light. I believe the HD bulb has this as well. Its only about 28.5 watts compared to the 1157's 27 watts for the brake light.
