Default Problems With Goofy Seat Hold Down Screw?

Anyone have problems with the seat hold down "system" on a Road King? Mine constantly comes loose, gets stripped and now has bent the rear fender behind the hold down. I'm thinking about bending the tab on the seat AWAY from the top of the fender so there will be a tension load on the threaded insert. ANy thoughts?

Have not ever really had a problem knock on wood but you may just use some blue loctite but you may have some loose fender mounts also I would start checking all the fastners.

locktite or clear nail polish on the threads, I also use a steel washer with rubber bonded to it between the tab and the fender

locktite often needs heat to cure- I usually use nail polish on parts that are not exposed to heat

Only trouble I have ever had with the hold down screw was when I didnt have the seat tab seated on the hold down nut.

Seems your not alone with this problem have read here of several that had this problem. If I remember correctly there was even a service bulletin about this issue. I think it was the seat not hitting the frame correctly and causing that hold down tab to break out of it seat structure which in turn puts a dent in the top of the fender. Might want to talk to the hd parts or service guys about that.
