You should call around and see if you can find a carrier that specializes in that corridor ( Ohio - Vegas or atlease goes thru that area. They usually combine freight and have trucks moving daily. They will give you the best rates.
For Piece of mind I would try and get a bike skid from your local dealer...Should be able to get one for cheap that way your bike is secured and the less stress worrying about your bike.
I'm not cheap,....just thrifty !! I don't wanna spent $700 to ship my bike,.....................so yesterday I went out and spent thousands on a 17 foot box truck.

Makes sense,......right ???
My Bro bought a truck when he move from here to Fla.,thinking he could sell it when he got there...No such luck.
A buddy of mine bought a nice huge car trailer and took his time to load it and hired a guy with a large pick-up to haul it from Kentucky to Fla. Sold the trailer in Fla. for more than he paid and it paid for the mover with the pick-up!!
Taxes and license on those box trucks can be pricey....Also yearly inspections!!
Just something to keep in mind....
Good luck with your move!!!
I'm in the freight biz and that seems like a good price considering the value of the bike and the possibility for damage. I would pay about that for a comparative weight pallet of dog food taking half the room with relatively low value.
Gotta ask, if you're moving the rest of your stuff, why not stick it in that truck?
09 electraglide...brownsville tx to central Illinois...$689 with federal/Allied...did the USHIP and got quite a few bids..1 was in the back of a pickup, another on an open trailer and he wouldnt produce an insurance carrier,,was told uship doesnt regulate the companies...
I will be keeping the bike safe , in the back of my newly purchased box truck. Now I will be able to sleep at night, not worrying about the safety of my bike.
I've hauled it cross country twice before. I will put the Harbor Freight wheel chock inside,......and all will be good !!!
