Has anyone put one on there bike? I know a bunch of people are probably going to bash me for asking or talking about putting one on. I have been debating doing one the gains they show are big just wanted feedback from someone that has rode one or built one. Id appreciate any info
Dunno why anyone would trash you for wanting more horsies but it seems like Drago with Drago's Bike Works (I think that's the name) is very knowledgeable.... He does both Trask Turbos and ProCharger superchargers, which I considered.
There is another section here that I am too lazy to go check but it is all about turbos and superchargers...
One rule: when you do it, tell us all the unvarnished truth about your experiences.
I run a trask on my v rod. Nick and all the guys at his shop are top notch. Call him up he will give you honest answers to any questions you may have. But on air cooled bikes the procharger does seem to be bore popular.
I want on to but cash seems to be my issue ! Do what you want its your ride. I wonder how the boost lag is? Sometimes, in my diesel if the gear is low and I speed up the turbo lags. I wonder, if cycles have the same issue? I also wonder how city driving is with this trask turbo.
I had one put on a v rod in Sturgis last week. For the v rod it's a no brainer but they were telling me that on a standard 96" stock motor that they would only net ~100hp. Seems like a lot of $$$$ to get to 100 hp. Sure big numbers can come with lower compression built motors but if the 100 hp area is what you want for your bagger I'ld say some mild street ported heads and a decent cam should get you there for lots less $$$
That being said my v rod will flat out scoot. It takes the v rod to 165 rwhp and it will flat out rip. There is literally no turbo lag at all and makes lots of power everywhere.
Putting one on my sporty this winter...Personally, I'm not going crazy with the motor in my bagger, the sporty is my toy, but to each his own...
That said, only negatives I've heard is tuning issues people have had with carb'd bikes, but I haven't heard anyone who was fuel injected complain.
I also agree with Lee..alot of power can be made from motor work first, and I'd think you would want to stiffen up that stock lower end before you started adding boost to it...I've just tapped out whats available in my sporty without going to an 88"...
I already have motor work with a stage 4 103 so with that I'm already over 100hp by an ok amount. I talked to one of the guys at trask with my set up and 8 pounds of boost id have around 140 hp thats a pretty damn big gain for the money
