Default Difference between cruise modules?

I have looked through several previous posts on cruise control and I have to say that I think I have found an original topic (perhaps). Is there any real difference between cruise control modules for different years of baggers? Specifically, are the pins, resistance, servos, or anything else different that would prevent you from putting a module "designed" for one year onto a bike from another year? Now I am not think about putting an '07 cruise onto a knucklehead or anything, but more an '07 cruise onto an '04 FLHPI.

I think the modules have been the same since 98. Check the part number of the module and it will probably end with -98. I think Harley is pretty good about sticking with something that works.
