I'd be checking the rear axle...it has a keeper like that...hard to tell from the photo if its the right size, but definitely make sure the clip is still on the rear axle..the clip is on the right side of the axle.

I'll check this. But it seems like this is too small for a rear axle - it's only a 1/2" wide.

The clip measures 1/2" from the outside. Hard to tell from the tape measure next to it.

I guarantee you it is a "E" Clip, and they are used to hold in the pivot bolt for the clutch handle or brake handle on the handlbar. You have to stand on your head to check to see if one of yours' is missing.

It's an e-ring. Could have come off a lot of areas. They're typically used to keep a pin in place. Some foot pegs have them as retainers (just as an example).
