Have I now put this in the correct post
As you all know I'm new here, so I hope I posted in the right spot. My question is-- on my 04 road glide there is a switch to turn on the speakers. It is a 2 position switch to use rear speakers if you add the tour pak. I like the look of the bike with just a back rest, so my questions are (1) where are the speaker leads coming off of that #2 position on the switch (2) can I get a Harley wire harness to plug into those leads (3) most car stereo is 4 ohm--Harley is 8ohm is that a big deal and lastly (4) has anyone done something like this before. my idea is to use a set of 2in clamp on speakers on the handle or crash bars. I have installed my share of car systems in the past- amps, subs, twets, mids, etc, but wanted a little help before I tear into a perfectly good bike
Thanks Gene

Don't know the question on the switch. But I can tell you this, the 8 ohms of impedence that the MoCo has in their speakers is what prevents them from being worth a damn. Hogtune sells speakers that are 4 ohms, and they are superior to the HD brand, by a long shot.

Go with the 4 ohm in th back, you will replace the ones in the front pretty quickly. Look into www.hogtunes.com

Gene, my friend has an 04' Road Glide and would like to add the rear speakers also. He says though that to use them with the Glides radio , that you have to remove the radio and have H-D install a new plug in to the radio for the extra speakers ( or something like that ). This is so that you can use the rear speaker controls. If you simply splice into the harness, you could only control the balance and all speakers would play at the same volume. I would call the dealer and ask about this before you make up your mind about the install.

That figures, it seems like Harley is really good at getting you into their dealers to by their parts. I thought about using my knowledge of car systems to build my own, but I would lose the handlebar controls and most likely mess up the look of the bike in someway. I'll research more, and post back if something neat pops up. In the meantime, any other tips would be great.
