Default lower fairing speak question

I'm thinking about adding speakers to my lower faiirngs, and have a question:

I added the speaker switch to my bike, which is what the Ultra's have for turning the rear speakers on and off, and it is wired in. I added it, as I didn't like seeing the block off plate, and I like the look of having a full bank of switches.

So, with the lower fairing speakers, how would I wire them in? Do I need an amplifer?

The ones I am thinking about are the CVO ones.....prices are real reasonable online, just have to get the outer "boxes" painted Sedona Orange.

Thanks in advance,

~Joe

Joe,

Yes, you'll need an amp. How to wire the speakers in the lowers offers a couple of options: (1) access the rear speaker pinouts of the HK radio currently unused on your bike; (2) use a four -channel amp like the RF PBR 300x4 that takes a two channel signal and splits it into four channels--no fader control, but you aren't using the rear speaker pin-outs of the HK; and, (3) depending on the ohm ratings of the speakers used, wire the two pairs of speakers in series or parallel to conform to the amp's requirements.

Carl

PS: The speaker switch doesn't turn the rear speakers off on and Ultra.

From another thread.

"Headset B"Middle (light on) Radio through speakers,CB and Intercom through headsets
"Assy Enable"All the way back (light on) Radio andCB through speakers, Intercom through headsets.
GND is for the ground wire for the little ight in switch

Your Intercom Audio will only work through the headset speakers to maintain privacy.

Speaker Fading (front to rear) is done through the softkeys on the radio, or by using the left volume switch on the handlebar. (Push in till it goes to fading screen on radio, then up or down to move the audio front to rear.)

To the original question of the thread.
The "Speaker" switch on the fairing cap does not have audio signals attached to it, it is connected to the radio control circuits (follow the wires back through the wires from the switch, then through the "interconnect harness" and you will seee they only go to the radio and not the speakers)

To enable the rear speakers when installing a tourpak and then installing rear speaker PODs, you will have to have the Dealerturn them on through the radio by flash downloading the ECM. (The Ultra is the ONLY model that comes with the rear speakers, factory enabled. in the HK Radio)

So tapping on to any of the wires there will not get done what you want.

okay....cool. THANKS.

I put it in there....as I stated, becasue I'd rather have a switch then a blank plate to remind me of the option I didn't get when it was new.
