The price was $699.00 plus tax, I assume the install was included. The guy I was speaking with at first wouldn't budge, I told him I was ready to buy at $600.00 and explained what I could get them off the net for and he started talking about warranty issues etc. If I buy online. I walked and I heard him comment to the other sales/tech as I was leaving. The other guy stopped me and handed me the pass to get my bike through the gate and said go get your bike, I'll take the hit. Rest is history.
You paid list price and got the free 15-minute install.
940's are a funny shock , I ran them on my last bike and was very happy with them , and yet guys slam them on here , I think your weight makes a difference as lighter guys hate them
My study on HDF of shocks suggests your comment can be made about many other shocks. It seems a lot of riders are happy with the stock shocks, but some try many different brands and models before they find something they like. So it seems to be a Harley thing, not just Progressive!
It also seems to me that solo riders are much easier to please than those of us who ride 2-up a lot. That seems to really test shocks. Unfortunately most HDF members when they comment on shocks don't make clear if they are riding mostly solo or 2-up, so the subject is difficult to follow.
So the 940's wouldn't be good for a lighter rider? I am about 165. What would be a good rear shock for me?
I weigh about 200 and I have the progressive 440 shocks, they cost less, I find them comfortable, easy to install, and I ride single and 2 up. They are on my 99 ultra, Hope I helped.
Your obviously a thrifty shopper. Thanks for your intellectual input
Very true! But there is no need to be rude or respond with malice. Everyone is an online superhero I guess. You posted what I interpreted as a great bargain and I was just pointing out it was list price.
I'm planning to do shocks next spring, so I've been following a lot of threads on shocks, I'm leaning towards the 940's because I have the monotube on my front end, and progressives on my wifes bike, and have been very happy with them. But I may give the Ohlins a try also, just don't know yet, I'll make my mind one day, would be nice to try out both first.
