If u have HD radio you dont need the biketronics.
Just did a 09 EG standard, was easy.
Issue was, we used a kenwood, and set up the biketronics as told, but it didnt work, and biketronics is hard to deal with.

I also think if you do a HD radio you'll be all set except for the thumbs to work you might have to get the ecm programmed??
idk, I heard that from the stealer...

It didn't have a factory stereo. After we got the fairing apart though, the issue was the lack of mounting options as the opening was so much larger than the single DIN head unit. I could fab some spacers for the mount holes in the back, but I really needed a faceplate to cover the hole on the sides. The local stereo shop said they would fab me one for 50 bucks, but they are backed up so it would be sometime late next week. I found a Biketronics faceplate and spacers for 45$ and it will be here by Tuesday, so I just went ahead and ordered.

I won't be able to use the hand controls, but this isn't my final setup. I just wanted to get some cheap tunes in it quick, and I will budget for a better setup in the near future.

Default 2011 Electra Glide

I have a 2011 Electra Glide Police Edition. I don't think it saw any police action since it's only got 7000 miles on it.

I took off the fairing to install a factory HK radio and the HD Boom speakers with tweeters. When I installed the speakers, there is no wiring that I can see for the speakers or to hook into the rear of the radio.

Can anyone take a picture, provide specific information about where the connectors are at or anything.

There's a couple connectors in the harness that are branched off various larger cables but nothing fits into the radio port or to the speakers.

I did find a stalk of wires clipped and ziptied behind the headlight area of the fairing that has wires that are green, black, orange, white, brown, and a white/green and maybe a couple other wires. Does that sound like the harness? If so does anyone know if harley davidson sells the connector end with crimps?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Mike

Wow - that's surprising. Biketronics has been awesome to deal with so far. Exceptional customer service! I've called several times w/ stupid/random questions and always gotten help.

I also am installing a Kenwood aftermarket HU - did you use the universal BT1005, or did you try to use another model meant for Sony?

My HU is installed and looks great. Waiting to get time in the paint shop while apart to finish the install. Will let you know if any issues with the hand controls controlling the Kenwood!

Fit finish is great - here's a pic of the HU installed w/ BT kit:

I also got the Biketronics splash guard since my HU is not "marine" (which i think is mostly hype - still would want to cover it when washing or in a downpour).

HTH - GL!

There is no radio or speaker wiring on your cop glide.

Buy HD's service manual and police supplement and you'll figure out what to do.

Mike - i took a ton of pics when swapping my inner fairing so i could reproduce wire routing and connectors, etc.

I have a 06 FLHTCI, so might not be 100% the same since 5 years older than yours (and different model...)

But if it helps, here's what i have:

And the Left side detail (plus top). See the 3 wires going to my left speaker - green, yellow, red? (and the disconnected tweeter wire on back of L speaker...)

HTH and GL!

Mike,

I also have a Police Glide and I already went through what you're trying to do. The Police Glides have no connectors for the radio. The harness is different from the "civilian" EGs.

You have two options:

a) Aftermarket radio (easiest option). You will need to buy a radio install kit (such as Hawg Wired or Biketronics) to make the aftermarket radio fit in the hole. After that, you only need a negative (ground) wire, a positive (battery) and a positive (ignition).

b) Factory Harley radio (expensive and difficult option). You need to buy a 23-pin connector and pins for the radio; you will also need to get the habdlebar controls since you can't control the volume using the radio buttons. This option involves more wiring and you need the service manual.

I did option A, then I acquired a HK radio and did option B. If I had to do it again, I'd chose option A.
