It's the wire that runs to the positive terminal on your battery from your regulator. After market regulators, ( like the CompuFire on mine,) have a 45 amp fuse that blows if the wiring chafes badly enough. Harley apparently doesn't think it's necessary.
If it isn't warranty, I'd just fix the wire and protect that spot from chafing for future use.
They'll either fix the wire or replace the whole regulator.
I would say the front tire repairman has some explaining and free repairs...IMO
Sorry to hear and Good luck
i don't see how he could be responsible. nothing in that area is affected when removing/replacing a front tire. also, if the wires chafed through, it's obviously been something that's been going on for a while. just coincidence that it went at that time.

OK, my bike has been in the indy shop for a week with stator issues (not charging) and temps were in the 80s and partly cloudy. I have been stuck in a cage getting to work buring an extra $5 to $6 in fuel daily.........

Got caught in the rain on my clean RK. DOW dropped 419 pts which translates to me another $40K loss. The last 4 weeks lost over $100K in portfolio value on top of what I lost today.
The good that happened today, I didn't get pulled over while speeding through a radar trap and found fuel for $3.41 a gallon. Oh yes, gold hit another record.
...dude!...I have one word for you..."DIVERSIFY"...(and if you tell me that you already are ...then you have so much green that 100K loss is no big deal to you)....

I agree. Compared to all this, my day was great being hungover! lol
