Default Corbin Classic Solo Backrest

Just wondering if its me or not but I am on my 3rd Corbin Classic Solo with the backrest that I removed and found the seat much more comfortable without it. My first was on a 2003 FLHT that after the seat was broke in I took off the backrest and was very happy. Then came 2008 and the same thing happened on my Road King now on my 2011 Road King Classic after 2500 miles with the backrest and no complaints but I removed it today and same story the seat seems perfect. Anyone else find this to be true.

I've tried a backrest several times, but never go to where I liked them. Actually, I was expecting to love them, based on all the positive comments, and the fact that I've had 3 back surgeries. But I far prefer to ride without one. The only back rest I've ever liked was my former girlfriend, but that was years ago. My spouse don't ride, so now I go without.

I have a corbin with back rest and the seat is the best I have ever had..... The back rest is good BUT no where as good as the Harley adjustable... The Harley back rest is not locked and swivles to fit your back and then the adustablity on the go is GREAT with the spring loaded switch on the left side under the seat. I love the Corbin seat, but Harley has got the best back rest and it is NOT interchangable with the Corbin seat...................hdman

The Problem with the Corbin Clasic Solo is it's pretty much a fixed position back rest. You have a little up and down dependind on wether or not you bolt it in or not.

The rest of the adjustment is in the tilt of the backrest which is done with alien head set screw.

With the backrest all the way down and the tilt adjustment tilted to match my back I could lightly feel the backrest behind me but I wasn't getting any support from it.

Working in the mechanical field I have a lot of companies and friends I deal with, One of them being a sheet metal/welding shop.

I marked where the square bar come out of the back rest and removed it from the back rest and took it over to the shop and had them put it in a metal brake and put a bend in it. reassembled it and gave it a try for a few days. It took two more bending secissions just adding a little more bend each time but now it's perfect.

Just go's to show you, where theres a will theres a way.
