Talking Road Trip 2011

Well, after being home for a couple of days now, I can say that I actually miss the road with the exception of the road construction and days where I wore the rain suit for more than half the day!

A buddy of mine (Root Beer Ultra Limited with 103 power pak) and I (Flame Blue / Pewter Pearl Ultra w/103 Stage III) started planning this road trip in January and it lived up (for the most part) to the expectations!

On the odometer, 5,077 miles over 14 days (13 actual days of riding + 1 day of hanging with my buddy's son + family in Oak Harbor, WA).

For anyone who has thought about riding up into Canada for Banff & Jasper National Parks...it is AMAZING! Lake Louise is absolutely spectacular, as was Bow Lake, Athatbasca Glacier at the Columbia Ice Field and much much more!

Listen here, Cowboy...

I've seen a lot of pictures in my day, and some downright great shots guys took from the road on their bike trips...

...then I saw YOUR PHOTOS. I intend to revisit them again, as I only was able to see about 4 and one half gazillion of them. Unless, I have forgotten, (and I don't think so), your photos have got to be the most jaw dropping, awe inspiring bike trip photos ON THE PLANET! IF I were on that trip, I think my EYEBALLS would have dessicated from keeping them open so long. Perhaps you should make another thread dedicated to showcasing these incredible photos. Like postcards, one might ask? No, not at all. Most picture postcards stink by comparison!

Thank you very much...very much indeed.

Thanks Torquey! Not all pictures I took are great...but there are some that I was able to really capture that moment! Among my hobbies is photography...so I am always 'with camera' when out and about, be that in a cage or on the scoot!

This was indeed a trip to remember...and I will most likely do another trip up that direction in a couple years, so I can capture even better shots!

As for postcards, the best shots (my opinion) I have put up on my photography business website (side business)...PM me for the URL as I don't want to break any rules on the HDF.

Harleycat225,
Many many memories! Word of advice to anyone planning a trip like this: Set your daily 'bogey point' at 250 miles with a max of 300 miles (to get to a reasonable hotel spot). Places like Banff, Jasper, Glacier, Yellowstone just deserve the time to really enjoy ALL of the sights and sounds!

My buddy and I really 'thought' we had this planned out well, which we did...to get miles in, but man...some days we were hitting 460 - 470 miles and that can be a real drag when you are going through places like Glacier National Park!

That is simply awesome. How could anybody ever doubt there is a God in heaven that created all of that beauty for man kind to enjoy.
I am a bit concerned about one thing though, assuming that is a pic of you in front of that busted guard rail. Did you happen to look over the back side to make sure no cars or bikes were down there? LOL I'm sure all was well. Thanks for sharing .

Awesome pics and glad you had a great time. There's just nothing like a big road trip on a motorcycle... It's the only way to vacation/travel.

Haven't you heard? It goes like this:

First, there was gravity out of nowhere that began to contract the mega quadrillion tons of dust out of nowhere so tightly that there was this enormous fiery explosion, which...

...and his photos reveal what the Earth looks like AFTER it was cursed, and AFTER we tried desperately to destroy it!
