Default Looking for a lighting answer

I want to do the conversion so the blinkers are also running lights and brake lights. I have smoked lenses and my question is can I leave the smoked lenses on and use a red led light in place of the yellow bulbs that come with the smoked kit, ( will this be bright enough) and do you know a good source to get the bulbs from.

Thanks, Steve

I converted to an LED smoked laydown taillight from Kuryakyn and also use their run/stop/turn module. I have smoked turn signal lenses and use a silver coated red bulb on rear and silver coated amber up front. When the lights are off you barely see the bulbs. I got the bulbs from Custom Dynamics and the Kuryakyn stuff from M&M. Kuryakyn makes a clear LED turn signal bulb that I may switch over to eventually. Check out Kuryakyn web site

Long as you use a red bulb its the same as using a red lense, JP cycles carries red led bulbs and also have seen red bulbs at advance and auto zone parts stores, but you should do a search on this conversion, many did not like it, myself included because it makes the running light almost as bright as the brake light so to some it looks like you are always on the brakes.

I don't know what LED turn signals would look like but my using of red bulbs seems OK. No complaints from guys I ride with. The brightness level is equal on both and the brightness gets noticebly brighter when hitting the brakes.

I picked up some of those silver coated bulbs, I do like when they are off but I found them to be dimmer and the red bulbs arent a real nice red. Looking at going to Biketronics LED now.

The bulbs from front and rear are not interchangable. One is 1156 (rear I think) and 1157 up front. Check on this though, can't swear on the numbers.

The H/D kit makes the rear turn signals aux. brake lights. I don't think it makes them run&brake. The Kuryakyn makes the rear blinkers run/brake/turns.
