Default Muffler Discoloration

Okay, this came up on the Ceramic Coated Headers thread. I'm currently considering ceramic coated headers but am now a little unsure about that decision based on some other users experiences with having their mufflers discolor.

Questions:

Are you using ceramic coated headers and if so, have you experienced muffler discoloration?
Also, what mufflers are you running? and lastly, did you do any tuning?

My intent is to run the ceramic headers with the rest of the intake & exhaust system staying stock for the meantime. However, muffler discoloration would most likely drive me insane, so I'd like to know ahead of time what I'm in for.

In due time your mufflers will discolor, regardless of headers used, coatings, or tune condition. The only way to prevent chrome mufflers from discoloration, is to buy a double wall construction design muffler.

If you're gonna get ceramic coated headers I recommend mufflers with a good fiberglass packing around the baffles but there would still be a hotspot at the front of the muffler though.

Rush ceramic coated inside and out. Cobra 4" slip-ons. Xied's for tuning.

Absolutely no discoloration, and a HELL of a lot cooler on my legs! Ceramic headers are the best mod I've done to my bike.
