Well I got to put some miles on the new skins today. And I have to agree with most on the board here, these are GREAT tires.
I have always liked Avon's, but my research shows on our bikes they just don't last very long. So I decided to go with the e3's, and I gotta say they handle every bit as good at the Avon's I ran on my old bike.
The difference in handling is amazing!! I am anxious to see how many miles I get out of these puppies.
Agree... I put on a set about 1,500 miles ago and so far, so good. Obviously haven't run them long enough to know how they will fair down the road. My stock tires got 15,000+ miles on them, so I'm hoping these will push 20K.
keep an eye on air pressure, i ran mine for a few thousand with low pressure and they cupped, still lovem though and wont go back to 402"s.
I am on my 4th rear and second front E3. I keep a close eye on tire pressures and they still cupped. The rear doesn't bother me so much, but the front gives a wobble in the bars, especially if you let go of them.
I am going to continue to run the E3 on the rear, as a little cupping there doesn't bother me and I get 20,000 plus outta them. I am going back to the D402 on the front though. I like it better on the front. I get roughly 35,000 out of the stock fronts so mileage isn't an issue.
Put the e-3 on the front. It corners good but seems to have a little more road noise on the highway. Michelin commander on the rear and so far it's good and handles great with the e-3 on the front. MU85-B16 on the rear.

Road noise? Not to be a smart *** but what are you riding a Gold Wing? Then again I have 4" Bassanni's and still not happy took the baffles out. These tires rock and roll through anything I have thrown at them. I live in and love riding the twisties, ride in rain and never a hiccup.
As far as the EIII I love em and may be putting a new front one on Monday (which I have in the garage). It still has 3/32's and hate to waste a couple thousand miles but my inner pads need replaced so figured I will have it done.
Keep the tire pressure at 40 front and rear, check regularly and if you get cupping you have another problem. Been through 4 rears now and this will be my 2nd front. I think 402's are dinosaurs and you can keep em.
