I'm not sure what you mean by 'speed shifting', but I shift quickly using only a little clutch and timing clutch and gearshift. I practiced clutchless shifts for a while, but except into top gear (fifth on my bike) the ratios are too wide for my liking.

Not so much. just because it's a harley doesn't mean you have to baby it like a 6 month old child. Some of us like to build our bikes for performance and also taking reliability into account. I beat on mine everytime time I go out......no problems yet,and if one comes up I wrench myself. Hope I answered your question

Oh hell yes, I have to do it when Im hanging with all the dudes at the local hog rides. you know the guys with all the pins and patches on the vests, which are held together with the chain extensions. Speed shifting is the only way I can keep from getting dropped from the rides.

Thank you for your answer. I clutch between 1st and second and no clutch between second and 4th. by then im going plenty fast enough and .I back off. I haven't had any tranny problems yet . have you ?

LOL, those patches and pins add at least 20 hp and 30 ftp torque

No I've never seen a reason to do it on any Harley I've owned. I did it many times on my VMax 25 years ago and still do it on some of my dirt bikes sometimes.
