Lugging happens at slower speeds or when decelerating right? This is mostly during acceleration or speed changes. I thought lugging was a low pitched sound.
I used to drive a shift car and did plenty of lugging.
Also, I use high test gas,(do they even still call it that?) But live in Virginia. Can I even buy gas without ethanol?
Thanks.
check out this site and see if your close to any of theses stations for the ethanol free gas seems to be quite a few good luck http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=VA
Mine is completely stock and we've been in the 100 degree + range since I got it. No pinging from mine. But, I do use 91 octane that has no ethanol in it. Costs me a few cents more per gallon, but worth it in my opinion.
sounds like pinging it may have just started because as your engine gets more miles on it the pistons build up a layer of carbon on them which raises the compression a little, which may be enough to cause the change...the cure may be as easy as using high test gas...but you may need to have the controller adjusted....also you might try adding a little octane booster to the tank (you can buy it at the parts store), I would use less rather than more as it often will cause more deposits to build up on the pistons...the long term fix is probably adjusting the injection controller (it will need to be reprogrammed)
