Question
If it's just exactly what you want, accessory-wise, and the work's done right, then it's going to be worth more to you than if one, or two, or more things are not 'quite' what you'd do to it yourself.
Accessories on a bike are like buying a house with a pool--the pool (accessories) are only a selling-point if you want a pool. Otherwise, to sell the house to someone who's not looking for a pool, you've literally got to 'throw' the pool in.
"How's those apes? Looks like your arms would go to sleep after a few miles...And that BIG front tire. That's not stock, is it? Any problems at low speed with that?"
Speaking as a rider of a pre-09 bike, I don't think I miss the upgraded frame, 96"/103" engine, etc. I don't know if I miss them or not cuz I've never ridden a bike with these things. My bike works good for me. I wouldn't personally hesitate to pick up a nice, clean 06. Especially one with 5k on it.
I can't think of anything else special to watch for, that hasn't been mentioned. If you're in doubt, take it to a reputable mechanic and get it checked out. Chances are, if the seller doesn't squawk at mention of a mechanic, there's nothing he knows about that's a problem. Or else he's a damn good poker player. So if in doubt, take it in to have it checked over.
If you get it, post a pic.
