Looking for help please.... I have replaced my battery three times in less than 10 months. turn on ignition and nothing battery is dead...dead...dead. i have used HD battery it came with , drag battery.... and Deca battery. I replaced the last battery the other night with a Walmart replacement. I was stranded across town and had no other choice. What the hell could the problem be. i dont run anything beside my ipod.
Is there a issue with batteries in touring models. My fatty has never had these type of issues WTF
No.1 you need to see if the alt. is charging and no.2 you need a dc amp meter to check for parasitic drain with everything shut down. With out these two pieces of info everything is a total guess and would be throwing parts at it.
I know you don't want to hear this but just to rub it in... (lol) I bought my FXR4 new in Jan 00. Sold it Jan 08 with the original battery. It was starting to get a little weak but would still start the Stage4 10.5 comp 95rwhp EVO.
You've got to talk to these bikes, mono-a-mono. Let 'em know how much you dig them. They will mess with you if you don't.
Going through your posts, it looks like you have a 2010 FLHX. If this is the bike, I would think it would still be under warranty and I would have brought it to a dealer long before I wasted money on three batteries. You shouldn't have to worry about the OE battery for that until at least 2015 or so with using a battery tender when it sits for a while. Something ain't right.
