i have a 2011 street glide im trying to install the rear fender tip light.
when i plug it in my left signal stays on solid and my brake light becomes my left signal(flashes)
ive been told that it can be done but i dont have a hot clue as to how
my bike and i are canadian lol try not to hold it against me, can i just take the black plug off the back of the old blank light and put it on the new one or do i have to splice into the wiring???
im new here so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
yes it has the tail light on the fender, ive called a few dealers and they all say nope cant be done.
but ive seen it done on a new street glide just didnt think there would be so much aggrivation to it or i would've asked the owner of the bikes then
It does have a plug in board. The tip light doesn't have brake light, just running. There are 7 wires that lead into the tip light, and 7 out. 6 posts on the board input. :s . They are completely different from the original "non-functional" tip light inset, to the new tip light. Right turn AND brake are on the same post, while I have power on 2 leads from the original, and only one power from the new light.
Would be a lot simpler if the leads were all seperate.
The harness that comes back up to the board behind the tailight is labelled 1-6 from the bottom up.
Original install,
1-nuttin
2-left turn
3-brake
4-power(running tail?)
5-right turn
6-power(running tail?)
Tip Light
1-nuttin
2-power
3-nuttin
4-left turn
5-right turn and brake(this is whats irritating me!!)
6-nuttin
So much for just swapping the leads inside the harness as it comes up to the board. The brake and the right turn being on the same post kinda throws things for a loop.
Thinking of just puling the light itself apart and sodering in the led into the old assembly. :S
