What is your cold weather GEAR?
FLEECE...
That stuff is WARM. I wear a turtle-neck fleece pullover under my Fox Creek jacket and that makes a big difference. Keep the draft from going down into the neck of your jacket and Fox Creek's elkskin leather gloves (unlined) are surprisingly warm down to around 40*. Fleece lined riding jeans are also excellent, especially if they have abrasion resistant knee panels as these block the wind-chill effect surprisingly well.
Heated gear is the ultimate. I resisted the concept for a long time, but when you put it on and you're toasty warm you just can't argue it anymore. Temperature is almost irrelevant with heated gear.

+1 on the Gerbings. Here in Oregon, riding from the Willamette Valley to the coast will occasionally result in a 20-30 degree temperature drop, so I keep my Gerbings gear in the saddlebag at all times.
We have a different cold here in La, you'd have to live here for a couple winters to understand. Fathertime, you would save money in the long run by just buying your wife the heated gear. If she's like my wife then that is the only thing that worked , I tried buying all the expensive leathers and thermal under garments but only after the heated gear did she stop complaining. I have all my military thermals to wear under my leather and pretty much just suck it up and keep riding. We did have a couple days of winter riding last years were some heated grips would have come in handy, but i'm not re-wiring these monkey bagger bars again. I might have to look into some heated gloves myself!
Good luck in your search.

UnderArmor short sleeve T and mock turtle neck long sleeve cold gear, same on legs/torso, Gerbing long sleeve heated liner, engine guard chaps from Airlite. Cover upper torso with Hoodie of choice, two if it's really cold, cover upper and lowers with rain gear of choice for wind protection, Frogg Toggs if it's wet, Full Face modular helmet, and any extra heated Gerbing gear you can afford. Done. Oh, I got the largest windshield I could find....Clearview 24L plus handlebar grip wind protectors from National Cycle.
It's easier to take off what you have on hand than to put on what you don't have on board.
