Ideal day to ride...
North Georgia yesterday was a rider's ideal! Did about 250 miles midday from Emerson, GA up through Fairmount, over to Ellijay, Blue Rldge, down GA Hwy 60 to Dahlonega, then across GA Hwy 52 to 515, to Canto, across GA Hwy 20 to I75 South home. Anyone from NW Georgia knows the territory.Enjoyed the ride...great day, a 9/11 celebration on the square in Dahlonega, sunshine.
On Hwy 60 it's twists for about 45 miles or so. Lots of fun until I hit a stretch filled with asphalt fills in old cracks of he highway. On many curves I could feel the Road King "slip or slide" somewhat, and quite frankly was a little disconcerting. One curve in particular was scary as the asphalt snakes covered practically the whole width of the road and it felt like I was slipping sideways.
My question after all of this to my experienced riding compadres...hw. Do you handle the asphalt snakes? Is there a method of riding through them? Thank, everyone...heading out again today for round two. I intend to red to another small N GA town or two on this day of remembrance. Peace to us all...God bless America!
As for asphalt snakes, I just ride through them and avoid sharp turns. Them snakes are scary!
