got behind a tar sprayer truck near Sturgis and was covered with floating strands of tar (didn't know tar floated). Wd40 worked and was going to try Jack Daniels, but didnt have enough for me and my bike. Guess what PLEDGE works on that also. Great stuff, although Jack tastes better.
Peace, Davis
Sometimes Pledge seems to streak my Vivid Black but it is a heak of a good cleaner to remove road dust, bugs, water spots, etc. I find I can go back over the bike with a bit of McGuires detailer afterward and remove the streaks leaving a great shine.
Tried it for the first time Monday night. Hadn't been cleaned in 3 weeks, and I ride at night every workday. Had so much bug splat it was hard to tell what color the fairing was.
20mins later, the bike looked better than when I first bought it!
I have a 1999 pick up, was well taken care of. Just washed it, paint didn't look good. Didn't want to do the whole polish, wax, shine. Needed some instant gratification. Pledged it. Very fast, looked nice. Smelled wonderful
Another household remedy, not as big an issue on bikes but rather for cars, the dried up bug guts. Ive tried everything, they all work to some degree but all of them require a LOT of elbow grease. Get a clothes dryer sheet, moisten it (not soak), rub over bug juice area, the stuff comes off like magic! I always thought.........BULL.............until I tried it.
Havent tried the pledge yet but I sure as hell will.
Take a some 3% hydrogen peroxide in a dark spray bottle (light deteriorates it) and spray on the bug guts. The peroxide dissolves the proteins in the bugs and they wipe right off.

That is a bona fide problem. If you are anywhere close to bees, they will swarm around a pledged bike.
