I wanted to let everyone know. I picked my 07 Ultra up from the dealer. I had the Touring Pullback bars Part number 55914-98 installed. I have a great dealer here in Louisville KY. I have purchased 3 different Harley's from them and they have never taken me for a ride. When I went in, I was expecting them to say I need to change out brake lines, clutch cable, and such. The catalog stated I would have to do this. The service manager said he didn't think he would have to change out anything. Here is the short story. Handlebars about $50, 3 hours labor #210. Total $260 with nothing else needed. So if you go to have this done at your dealer, DON'T let them say they MUST change out the clutch, brakes lines and throttle.
Can you tell me if the clutch cable was relocated to the outside of the fairing when the change was made? Can you tell if the other cables were re-routed and where? I would like to make this change over the winter.
rm4040, They did not reroute any cables or brake lines. I don't understand either. I will stop by the dealer and ask. It might be towards the end of the week. I'll let you know.
Hi Doc, I changed out my bars on my Ultra also myself. I to asked the dealer to do it. I bought the HD pullback bars for the Ultra. They quoted me 600.00 plus dollars. That did it, Im trying this myself. I used the pics from ken and judys. I put the HD bars on for about a week, and then I ordered the WO 575s and put them on. With the WOs you can run the wires inside the bars. It did take me all day on a Fri. I must say it really is easy, just time consuming. Mainly because I did not want to screw anything up. I did take out the radio. It too is not hard. Just slow going putting it back in because of putting the screws back in. The wires I must say was very easy to do. That was the part I was worried about at first. I did not get any different cables. The brake line just has to be bent straight down, and not follow the curve in the bars. I ran the clutch cable out side of the fareing. The throttle cables are just fine. I love the feel of the WOs better because of the way your hands are positioned. I now have a set of HD pullbacks for sale. Any questions feel free to ask.
Larry
I went ahead and put the Wild 1's on my Ultra yesterday. It took me 6 hours, but it was worth it. Like Larry, I too put the clutch cable on the outside and used all the original wiring. At a later date I may change the clutch cable too. I think the whole process is easier if you remove the radio like Larry did. I didn't, but I think I would if I were to do it again. I haven't ridden the bike yet, but just sitting on it I like the new ergonomics. I got a deal on the bars from a local shop, they had some minor blemishes on the side facing the fairing from laying on the carpet in the showroom. After some haggling, $180 out the door. Ride safe.
