my first ride after 24 years off. and longest ride ever. streetglide. los angeles to flagstaff day 1, sept 8. flagstaff to santa fe day 2, sept 9. same way back sept 11 and 12. temp ranged from 115 (rice, ca) to 45 with thunderstorms, lightening and hail (flagstaff). loved every minute. the bike was a rental with only 1400 miles and growled thru all of it. an incredible piece of machinery, imho. my one question would be the suspension... after a couple of vertebrae-crunching pot holes in arizona. after this trip i must get me a streetglide and wanted to see what my options were to improve the suspension. thoughts, comments appreciated.

Ohlins are hard to beat. They have proven themselves on the racing circuits the world over. There are other lesser brands if price is an issue, but you have to ask yourself...do you really want the best ride or just something to get by that's a little better than the stockers? It's a personal choice, but one that can make a world of difference.
It's always been amazing to me how guys spend all that money on pipes, air cleaners, fuel management systems, cams, and dyno runs to squeeze out a scant more hp and torque...while all the time the quality of the ride itself (and handling) continues to stink because of crappy suspension.
Good luck on your bike and choice of suspension products.
ohlins in the rear, traxxion dynamics in the front.. best you can get as of now
love my ohlins, and will be doing traxxion dynamics ak-20 cartridges in the forks over the winter.
as of now the best for the money up front i could get was the race tech kit, gold emulators, a linear spring rated for my weight.
but the traxxion setup is the ****! and as stated will be going to that this winter.
