I take it the exhaust header pipes are not that hard to take off and put back on?

Should the 2 Exhaust support bracket Allen bolts have loctite on them?

You dont need to take the exhaust off if you use the method above!! but if you insist on doing so it is not to hard just time consuming!! I would not if i didnt need too!

The 2 Allen bolts that are loose are below the cover. Not the lower bolts of the 6 speed cover.

The 2 Allen bolts can best be accessed from the bottom side. I will have to shorten an Allen wrench in order to get into the Allen bolts because the exhaust is in the way.

Thanks for the input.

Low profile to allow clearance between frame and engine
Comfortable, ergonomic rubber grip

Should be able to loosen the exhaust, and it will move a good inch away from the bike.

The HD Dealer came out with a 1/4 inch drive wratchet with an allen head socket. He got in there with a glove and tightened them up in 20 seconds. No pipes coming off or nothing.

He torqued them to "MF tight" with one hand and that was it. I was there about 5 minutes.

I "thought" it was going to be a pipe project as well...I didnt even try to tighten them. When I saw how easy I was a little embarrassed.

Same bolts loosened on mine at about 5000 miles. Used the method above with the long shank of the Allen wrench. Tightened them back and they have been snug ever since. Some guys cut-off some of their Allen so they can actually get it in the head and torque it down good. When I replace the header, I will remove these bolts and replace them with a Grade 8 bolt with a lock washer and blue thread locker. They are not very visible at all. This is a very common problem, unfortunately.
