Forget the Streetglide. Get a roadglide, you will be amazed at the difference. Harley's true touring bike.

A good seat that FITS you well is the most important factor here. Then highway pegs so you can stretch out your legs and change positions along the way. With these you can probably ride well beyond 400 miles even on the bike you've got now. Unless you just wanna make a change, why dont you try another seat? As I imagine you've got your own bike tricked out how you want it, maybe the seat fit is your only real problem here. Going with a SG doesnt guaruntee a good seat that fits, in fact many don't like the OEM seat and have to replace it with a Mustang, Corbin, etc.

I'm 6'5" as well. I've got a RK with an aftermarket fairing and a 10" tall Ultra LRS. It definitely fits me better than a lowered SG and a shorty windshield. I love the look of the SG, but I think for us guys over 6'2" it's a stretch.

My next Harley, if I ever get another one as I just can't let go of my RK now that it fits me, will be a Road Glide.

1 am 6' 2" and weigh 255, i ride a road glide custom and by no means does it feel uncomfortable.

apes look good on it, however my comment is try a different seat. i ride with a mustange seat and no problems with feeling worn out.

i just did 17,000 in 19 days. no compliants about being tired or otherwise and my a$$ did not hurt at all.

And no matter what a softtail rider tells you about after suspension..air system, etc., the ride will never be like that of a touring bike. Night and day.
This is so accurate...I was one of those softtail guys bragging about my Fatboy Lo with a a Shotgun Shock. I thought I had the most comfortable bike there was...until I rode a Road King. There is just no comparison. Also, being about the same dimensions as you, the touring frame is the perfect fit for me. I added the Heritage bars to mine and also a Corbin Solo, I can tell you the comfort on the long hauls is excellent.

I've got apes and a Mustang seat on my RK Police. Granted, I haven't gone on long rides yet (Just got it bout a month ago). But from what I've rode with it (bout 1200 miles so far), it's comfy. Of course my only basis for comparison was my 01 Shadow 750 I rode for 6 years. Rode like a tin can. So anything rides like a Cadillac to me LOL!! And I'm a short **** compared to you guys. LOL!! I'm bout 5'8" ish.

I just made the change from a 05 Fatboy to a Road Glide and can tell you its a world of difference in comfort. I can do twice the miles and not feel beat up now.

Im 6'3" and felt cramped on a Batwing Bike so I ended up going Road Gilde, the fairing out front really gives the feeling of being on a larger bike. But the RG is not a look everyone likes. The other option is if you liked the Deluxe look get a Road King , put some apes on it and a custom seat to drop you into it and youll have the same styling as the Deluxe but with the touring comfort, windshield comes off in a minute....

Since you want to take some trips, the main concern should be comfort and what mods you may need to reach your level of comfort. If the batwing is too confining, try a Road Glide or Road Glide Ultra. In any case, the cost of a rental may seem like a lot of money, but its not when you consider how much you will pay for the bike you end up with. Oops, just read your last post of wanting the SG. I still think you should rent one and put it through your normal riding conditions for at least a day.
Yeah you can go thru the whole lineup and decide for yourself which model will meet your needs. Add that to what you get for suggestions and you'll be in a position to make a more informed decision.
