Default Polk MM651 and RF Amp

The RF amp is 4 ohm only and not 2 ohm stable. The Polk MM651 are 2.7 ohm. Can I use them without hurting the amp? I have read here that guys are using them with this amp.

I'm in the same boat, but I don't think so. A lesser ohm speaker will eventually smoke the amp, I just don't know how long it will take, or how hard you have to push it to do so. I was really hoping someone with more knowledge would chime in here.

the thing you have going for you in using a RF amp is their notariety on being a solid piece of equipment. I feel pretty comfortable in telling you that you will be able to run the 2.7 ohm speakers without a problem. the amp might get a little warmer (not smoke it) than normal but you will be ok.

I found a little info on the net today. RF amps, especially newer ones are stable down to 2 ohms. If you're installing 2 speakers, the suggestion was to run it with the channel switch set to 4, and there'd be no issues. Looks like it's time to order an amp and speakers!

Would that be the same for my j & m speakers? Is the remedy just switching to 4 channel with only using 2 speakers?

I just bought a set of MM651's. The manual says that they are safe for 4 ohm amps. Soooo, take it for what its worth to ya. I will say they ROCK with the arc audio amp I'm using.

Would the Hertz 6.5 inch 3 ohm speaker be ok to use with the Rockford amp?
