Default engine performance

I picked up a 2001 RK that was stored incorrectly for a long time (4 years). I have replaced the injectors and the pump and plugs. I finally got it started and it runs real good after abot 2500 rpm. This bike does not idle correctly and has no low RPM performance. Spits through the module at idle and once you pump the throttle you can get it to run at high rpm but once down to idle it hardly runs --whats up?? TPS--Map ??? Please help Thanks

Fuel injection is a tricky thing to diagnose. Without all the propper tools, I would take it to the dealer. You would just land up replacing parts until it all worked.

how about battery....check the bat voltagre with a ditigal meter at idle...a weak battery will drain the charging system dropping the voltage below what the ignition system needs to run correctly....as you go up in rpms...more voltage is available

Replace the IAC valve on top of the throttle body. Or at least make sure it's jumping in and out on key on/off and the air passage is open.

you might try re-setting the TPS on it, don't know on that year, set your switch to run, turn the ignition on wait 10 sec, turn off the ignition wait 10 sec, do this 3 times on the 4th try start the bike but don't hit the throttle and let it run till it warms up.

open up the air cleaner, exposing the throttle body, get you a few rags, a medium bristle toothbrush, and a can of carb cleaner.

put the rags all over under the throttle body to catch an carb cleaner coming out. look in the very top of the throttle body there is a hole about the size of a small eraser. spray the crap out of it using the spray nozzle that comes with the carb cleaner, cycling the ignition switch off and on between sprays. keep doing that until "black" stops coming out of it.
use the brush to clean the bore of the throttle body.

once you're done with this. you'll find it hard to start but it will start... let us know if that resolves the issue.

what about the fuel.. have you replaced that? if not, drain that tank and replace the fuel filter.
