So.... I have always been a sportbike guy and now not so much. I have been riding motorcycles since I could balance a bicycle (dirtbikes and once old enough, sportbikes). Did some local racing and track days. I was one that always said I would never own one of those old Harleys. A friend of mine had a E Glide Classic and tried really hard to get me to ride it. After a while I broke down and took it for a weekend with the wife. Needles to say, two weeks later I bought a 06 E Glide Classic. 6 months later I traded it in and got a 09. Now I know what all of the brew ha was about.

I too used to ride nothing but sport bikes. I'm on an '07 FLHRC now and love it! My wife and kids much prefer the HD too so that's a plus

Harleys and sport bikes both have a lot of attitude. In that respect, they're similar. I think of sport bikes more like sports cars, and Harleys more like hot rods. Speaking for myself, I finally settled on my Harley as my sole bike primarily because it's a lot more comfortable to ride a distance than any of my sport, or sport-touring bikes were. Plus, there's something about owning a bike that's super fast that came to seem either fool-hardy, or pointless to me. Like fm58 said, post a pic and let us see your ride.

The wife and I have done a few 1k mile trips. There is no way I could have done that on a sportbike. You are right about the kids. I dont have any problem putting them on the EGlide.

The need for comfort tends to out weigh the need for speed as the years go by, congratulations.

My brain still like to go fast. My body says that's fine, as long as we go fast comfortably.

I been on Harleys (Baggers & Softails) for the last 15+ years and I recently picked up a used Ducati Monster (cheap). I ride it whenever I get the urge for the "twisties".
