Rode the Dragon on Wednesday. If I would not have had the flu I would have riddin it a couple more times. It was kind of like goin to Disney. Big hype and everyone needs to go at least once. Don't be sceered just be prepared. I must say, after riding several roads in the area the Dragon was one of the nicest. However like many have said there are numerous roads in the area that are just as good. A lot of tree tunnels. That is an awesome part of the country to ride motorcycles but bring your best when you go because there is not much room for mistakes on most of them. Thanks for all the previous suggestions I got from several of you. It made my trip much better.
Yeah and watch out for the freakin deer! Especially with the cold snap coming this weekend.
Best ridin weather in 5 months and mine is in the shop getting new skin.
You're right though everybody should do it once and get the mug or t-shirt then go hit some the much better roads within a 50 mile radius.
Wife and I rode the dragon about a week ago. Put 1552 miles on the 2011 UC on my first road trip ever. Waited 30 years to do this and it was everything I expected and more. Used this forum for packing and riding hints and all went well.
For me personally, there were many more enjoyable roads in the area than the dragon and I got to ride quite a few of them. The first vacation I've had in decades where we had to actually look at a map in the mornings to decide where to go.....absolutely no preplanned itinerary (kinda scary after 4 kids ).
Didn't see any deer but did find out that the area has the **** outta squirrels and chipmunks.
