HD is running a special right now, free lifetime map updates when you buy a Garmin roadtech 660 or 665. Roadtech's are pricey and so is the NIM but it sure looks clean when installed and easy to read, use, and hear.

Both the 550 and the 660 Zumo (Not the overpriced HD unit) are great but for me not only does the 660 offer more advanced features it is also roughly Half as Thick as the 550! Not a big deal to most but the 550 is like having a tube TV on your bike compared to a plasma with the 660. JMO.
plug the cable into your aux input and you just saved yourself the cost of the NIM kit. Unless you've got $ to burn then why on earth would you spend $150 - $200 more for the RoadTech unit when it is exactly the same as the Zumo units but without the ridiculous HD icon on the main screen to take you to every HD dealership in the continental US. Buy the Zumo 665 and if you break down somewhere, punch in HD on the "where to" screen and you just saved yourself $200.

I paid $640 for my Road Tech 665, new in box from Surdyke. I'm seeing $770 from Amazon for the plain-jane Garmin. Looks like I saved $130.
i will share this thought. I like the roadtech mount better than the garmin mount.
as far as the price, yep those road techs have come down quite a bit. the 665s are all over amazon for $649. :-)
I paid a little more like I'm sure a lot of folks did because I bought mine 2 weeks after being released. $800 and change but at the time the road tech unit was going for $999 at all the local HD shops and no one had a clue as to what a NIM kit was then. :-)
MoCo has goofy rules about sales adverts. The life time map updates is/are posted in the dealership (at least the 2 shops in So. Maryland). 665 is $799 / 660 is $649 offer runs 10/15/2011 to 12/31/2011. Also found on dealer web pages just now.
