Default Wind Deflector Issues

2009 Road King Classic....I put them on a couple days ago and the first attempt they hit the back of the turn signals, so thinking I had them on the wrong side, I switched sides. Now I can not turn my bars full right or left without the deflectors hits the crash guard. Now what?

nevermind> I had them on backwards and I need to put the turn signals in the forward part of the peanut shaped hole. And what a PITA it was to move the turn signals forward. Removing the 2 allen screws in each lite was a PITA. Then I had to cut the single gray wire so I could remove the 1/2" nut. Soldered and heat shrunk the splice, reattached everything and it does not hit the crash bar or back of the turn signals. Almost a 2 hour job.

There is some adjustment possible when mounting these plus your lowers may not be installed exactly the same.

I just put the deflectors in my vise and bent them slightly outwards which gave me plenty of room when installed.

I didn't even know there was a peanut shaped hole. If I set mine up to miss the turn signal they touch the crash bar at full lock. I was going to post a thread asking about moving the turn signals but maybe somebody will respond to yours. Somehow I doubt you need to cut a wire but I'm the same guy who put the defectors on backwards twice already.

When I had my Road King Classic I just bent the wind deflectors back a little to clear the turn signals. There ended up being about 1/4" clearance.

Yep ! Take an old, cheap socket, and cut a 1/16th notch down the side with a Dremel tool to slide the wire into. Turn the nut a quarter turn at a time, and reposition the socket.

Harley actually sells a socket made just for this job.

The deflectors can also be adjusted by bending them slightly. I run them on my Ultra with lowers with about 1/4" clearance behind the signals and in front of the lowers.

Just remember, if it was easy anyone could do it! Just think about that overwhelming sense of pride you are now feeling because you tackled a difficult task! This is called living life to the fullest...
