Broken Saddlebag Hinge RKC
These hinge bits have broken off both saddlebag lids on my 2011 RKC. Happened just opening the lid. One side about a month ago, the other last week. The lids work OK, but I'll have to get them replaced eventually. Dealer is too far for just a trip about this issue. Anyone have any experience (good or bad) about getting them replaced under warranty?

All 4 of my hinge springs also broke on my 11 RKC. First spring broke within a month of the purchase. Dealer was happy to replaced them and have not had any issues since. I thought that lid could stress the hinge if you do not lift the lid at the front strap position. Dealer also said that he has never replaced or sold these hinge springs.

Make sure you replace both now, so when the springs DO break later, you fix them yourself! This is another what were they thinking part on Harleys. Local dealer had the springs for 3 bucks or you can by the whole hinge for 80!!! The springs are a pain, but be patient, and you can save some money.
Mine broke this week on one side (2011 RKC). The dealer wanted $8 for a set of two, but gave them to me under warranty. I believe what happened is that the original design allowed the lids to open all the way, which scratched the lids against the docking hardware. So. they put these springs in to limit the travel if the lid.
