Apparently the guy who makes NEXL died in 2007 so no more there RIP.

I recently went helmet shopping and found Daytona Helmets to be of good quality. Very comfy. Very decent quality.

I use the Shark also. Just bought the wife one so she would be protected also.

DBell, don't concern yourself with the SNELL rating too much. The ECE 22-05 rating that the Shark carried is better than Snell and DOT. AND it is rated as DOT and ECE 22-05 in both 3/4 and full face modes.

I have a Daytona Skull cap, they were called skid lids when I bought it. Its a DOT half helmet. I like it. When It gets cold I have a Scorpion EXO-700 full face. Its really comfortable but the vents rattle at speed so I wouldn't recommend it.

I wear a Shark Evoline Series 2. It's a modular and I wear it open face most of the time, but do pull the chin guard down when Interstate driving. Interesting note - the Evoline has an internal sunvisor that will become scratched with use. I sent an email to ask about replacement visors and explained the situation. The visor was too thick and was being scratched when deploying. They responded they would send me a replacement free as they recognized the problem. It took them awhile, but I received the replacement this week. Sent from France. The Evoline is pricey, but I figure my heads worth it.

I use a Shoei Qwest. I really like it, good ventilation, very comfortable. I wanted the shark evo 2, I thought that was the best of both worlds with the flip up face and ece rating....but when I tried the shark on it just didn't fit my head.

All Helmets are not created equal in fit and comfort. I love my Nolan N-102 Modular, but a comparably sized one for my wife was very uncomfortable for her. Helmets are something you MUST try on and be certain they fit correctly, not only for comfort but for functionality as well.

As suggested, got to a shop that has many brands, and try them all on and see what works for you. In my neck of the woods, the metric dealers have the best selection in helmets. My local HD dealership only has HD branded helmets.

Going to a shop where they have various helmets isn't around here. HD dealer who is 40 miles away has the largest selection, but they are HD helments and there is a lot more out there other than what HD offers. I would like to try them on though. May have to settle for what HD offers.

If there is nowhere nearby with a good selection to try, you might check out Revzilla online-they have a lot of online reviews & video demo's of hemets, and will let you exchange if it doesn't fit. I think shipping may be free for the 1st exchange if I remember correctly. Their prices are very good also. (i have no financial interest in the company, just a satisfied customer)

The problem with purchasing a helmet online without having had an opportunity to try it on is that it's not just about size. People have different shaped heads - round, oval, long oval, etc. So you might find a helmet that seems too tight on the forehead but fine everywhere else. A larger size in the same model might be too big everywhere.
