My 09 RK doesn't have any shutter when using the rear brake. Sounds like there must be a common problem. It will be interesting when they figure it out.
I took mine into the dealer, says the pads had shifted & was what was causing the shudder! Never heard of pads shifting but it seems to be fixed for now! No ABS! Same symptom sas listed by others, really was worse riding two up! Good luck on the healing & figuring out the problem!
I have an '11 Limited and have never noticed a shudder from the rear brake. But then again, I never use the rear brake very aggressively.
I have lately been getting a pulsing in the front brakes though. I checked the rotor runout and sure enough, one of them is out .008. The other is out .002.
It's really not that big a deal to me, but next time I'm at the dealer I'm going to hit em up for a new rotor under warranty.
I just need to talk them into giving me the parts so I can do the work myself.

I have found that you really dont have to use rear break very aggressively to fell the vibration.. .yes if you use fron and rear at same time, it is much less felt.... if you use only rear break to to somwhat a LAZY stop or slow down, then thats when the shudder feeling is felt... as i mentioned,, when two-up, its a pretty severe shudder vibration when braking hard before the ABS kicks in....
Since day one same thing. The harder i stop with just rear brake
the greater the shake.
I usually slow down pretty quick and the first couple times I
thought the abs was kicking in the shudder was so strong.
If you mix front and rear and slow more gradual it is substantially
reduced.
So is this being noticed by bikes that use primarily rear braking practices or its more notable when applying just the back brake? I don't notice anything and I'm a 70% front and 30% rear braker?

Maybe that's why I've never feel it. In the 18,000 miles I've got on my newest bike, I could count on one hand the number of times I might have used the rear brake only. Under normal conditions, I always use the fronts and rear together. If anything, I'd be more likely to use only the front than only the rear.
